In addition to her freelance work, Claire is an enthusiastic blogger, having maintained three blogs since 2006 and co-authoring a fourth. Except when travel circumstances make it impossible, she usually updates one or two of them each and every day
I steeped myself in Colorado's constantly changing culinary scene while researching and writing "Culinary Colorado," a food-oriented guidebook to my state. Wanting to keep writing about restaurants, wines, wineries, food, cooking, local agriculture, I launched this blog and named it after the book. It is Colorado-oriented but not Colorado-exclusive, so I write posts about the food aspects of my travels as well.
When I'm not traveling (which is most of the time), I read about travel, I think about travel and I write about travel. I believe in stretching the travel door, expanded the mind and stockpiling travel experiences in the memory bank. Please join me in my travels -- armchair and otherwise -- around the US and abroad.
This blog supports my book, Nordic Walking, published in July 2009. At its most basic, Nordic Walking is low-impact fitness walking using specially designed, lightweight poles. The poles relieve the lower body of much of the stress, therefore making it gentler on the ankles, hips and knees. Nordic Walking also burns significantly more calories than walking the same distance at the same speed without poles. Well established in Europe, it is poised to be the next big thing in American fitness. As a winter bonus, read about snowshoeing here too.
